Short answer

It depends on where you live. Of the 50 countries in this tool, Binance's own pages show 24 where sign-up on binance.com is available, 7 with limits or a separate local platform, 1 where local rules are the issue, 9 that Binance does not serve, and 9 we could not confirm. Pick your country above.

What do the results mean?

  • Sign-up available: the country is not on Binance's List of Prohibited Countries and we found no Binance page that sends residents elsewhere. For some countries that is all we found; product limits can still apply.
  • Restricted, check local rules: the country is not on Binance's List of Prohibited Countries, but Binance is not registered with the local regulator and local rules limit how residents can use it. This describes Binance's regulatory status; what it means for a resident depends on local law.
  • Restricted or separate local platform: binance.com is not the right door. Binance runs or points to a local service, or some products are switched off.
  • Not available: the country is on Binance's List of Prohibited Countries, or Binance has announced a full exit, and there is no local Binance service. That means Binance does not serve it; it does not by itself mean that using crypto is illegal there.
  • Needs checking: we could not confirm it from Binance's own pages, so we do not guess.

Why do some countries get a separate Binance?

Where local rules get in the way, Binance has done one of three things: set up a separate company, kept binance.com open alongside a local platform, or stopped taking new users, as in the United Kingdom since 16 October 2023. A separate company such as Binance.US has its own sign-up, products and fees.

  • United States: Restricted or separate local platform, Binance.US.
  • Japan: Restricted or separate local platform, Binance Japan.

What do you need for the ID check?

All new users must complete Binance's Verified identity check: select residence and document type, upload a government ID (front/back), then pass a liveness check. Proof of address (POA) may also be required by region/country regulation; POA must be in the account holder's name, typically dated within 6 months (3 months for many countries, 2 months for India).

South KoreaRestricted, check local rulesBinance is not one of the 28 crypto businesses registered with Korea's Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU). Korean law bars an unregistered business, foreign ones included, from serving Korean residents; the penalty in Article 17 of the Act applies to the business, and no provision in it names individual users. Regulators warn that users of unregistered platforms may lose funds with little chance of recovery. Korean exchanges apply the Travel Rule to transfers abroad, and each keeps its own list of permitted overseas platforms. Binance's own List of Prohibited Countries does not include South Korea; Binance ended its Korean-won pairs and Korean-language service in 2021.

How can you check it yourself?

  1. Open Binance's List of Prohibited Countries (linked under Sources) and search for your country.
  2. Open Binance's licences page to see whether a local Binance company is named for your country.
  3. Start sign-up and check the residence list in the verification step. If your country is missing, binance.com almost certainly does not take residents from it; confirm with Binance support.
  4. Check Binance's announcements for your country, and your own regulator's register of licensed crypto firms.

What this tool does not tell you

  • Whether trading crypto is legal for you where you live, or how it is taxed.
  • Changes made after the date above. Binance updates its terms; the official page takes precedence.
  • Anything about your personal situation. This is information, not legal or financial advice.

FAQ

Can I use binance.com from the United States?

Restricted or separate local platform. Binance points US residents to Binance.US.

Is Binance available in South Korea?

Restricted, check local rules. News Margin does not offer Binance links to visitors in South Korea.

Does a VPN get around the restrictions?

No. Binance's Terms of Use require that you are not in a prohibited or restricted location, and the ID check records your country of residence. A VPN does not change which rules apply to you.

How often is this list checked?

The date at the top of the page is the last full check (2026-10-26). Binance's official pages take precedence if they differ.
