How big is the Arirang tour, and why does the show count keep changing?
The Arirang World Tour is BTS's first since all seven members finished mandatory South Korean military service. It opened at Goyang Stadium on April 9, with shows on April 11 and 12. Those three nights drew about 132,000 fans.
The size of the tour has moved several times, as the timeline below shows. More dates were added later in Japan, the Middle East and elsewhere for 2027. Whether those additions changed the 34-city count has not been confirmed.
Every show is in a stadium, with a 360-degree stage. For scale, Reuters said BTS's 2018 to 2019 world tour had 42 concerts in 20 cities, followed by 20 stadium concerts in 10 cities. This one is larger and stadium-only from the first night. Reuters also reported that no concert is planned in mainland China.
- January 2026 announcement: 79 dates, 34 cities
- Reuters, March 2026: 82 concerts, 34 cities
- Star News Korea, August 2026: 85 concerts, 23 countries, 34 cities
- Later: more dates added for 2027, so the count keeps moving
How did the gross climb past $500 million?
Billboard Boxscore tracks gross, meaning ticket sales reported by promoters and venues. It is not revenue or profit, and it only counts dates that have been reported. That is why the running total always trails the real tour.
The monthly figures show a tour that got bigger as it went. April's eight shows grossed $76.2 million, making it Billboard's No. 1 tour of the month. May brought $127.8 million from 12 shows, including $49.5 million from four nights at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. That May total was the highest monthly gross by a group since Billboard started its monthly chart in 2019, beating the Rolling Stones' $95 million in August 2019. April and May together came to $204 million.
By Aug. 11, Boxscore showed $433.2 million from 38 sold-out shows and 2.3 million attendees. That total already included the $204 million from April and May, so the dates from June to Aug. 11 added more than the first two months combined.
August as a whole grossed $171.7 million from 12 shows and about 800,000 fans, the second-highest monthly total in Boxscore history, behind Beyoncé in August 2023.
The Aug. 11 total still left a gap to $500 million. Part of August's $171.7 million was already inside that $433.2 million, so the two figures overlap and cannot simply be added. The August shows after Aug. 11, plus September dates as they were reported, were enough to carry the total past $500 million by the Oct. 1 report.
Divide each month's gross by its number of shows and the average night keeps rising. May's average beat April's, and August's beat both by a clear margin. BigHit Music said eight shows at SoFi Stadium drew about 496,000 fans, and the 31-show North American leg drew an estimated 1.92 million.
| Period | Shows | Gross | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| April 2026 | 8 | $76.2 million | No. 1 tour of the month, 417,000 tickets |
| May 2026 | 12 | $127.8 million | Record monthly gross for a group |
| Cumulative to Aug. 11 | 38 | $433.2 million | 2.3 million attendees |
| August 2026 | 12 | $171.7 million | Second-highest month in Boxscore history |
| Reported Oct. 1 | Not confirmed | Over $500 million | First pop group to pass the mark |
Is $500 million a record?
Partly, and the wording matters. BTS is the seventh group to pass $500 million on a single tour, according to The Kyunghyang Shinmun, and the six before them were all rock bands. So the accurate claim is first pop group, or first non-rock group. Solo artists have gone much further: Reuters put Taylor Swift's Eras Tour at $2.1 billion.
Within K-pop the gap is wide. Star News Korea said the tour had already passed BLACKPINK's Born Pink World Tour, the previous record for an Asian act at $331.8 million, by August. It also called Arirang the highest-grossing tour ever by a vocal group.
The tour followed the album Arirang, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 641,000 equivalent units and held the top spot for three weeks.
What does the tour mean for HYBE's finances?
HYBE, the company that owns BTS's label BigHit Music, reported record Q2 2026 consolidated revenue of about $1.0 billion and an operating margin of 11.8%. Coverage credited the tour as a main driver. Keep in mind that HYBE's concert revenue is a company accounting figure covering all its artists, so it does not line up neatly with Boxscore gross for one tour.
Q3 results are not out as of Oct. 25. Before release, Eugene Investment & Securities estimated Q3 revenue would be up 100.5% year on year, with concert revenue up 8.2% from the previous quarter. The quarter included 24 BTS stadium shows in North America and Europe. These are analyst forecasts, not HYBE-reported results.
Investors have already reacted. HYBE shares rose 10% on Oct. 16 on expectations of strong Q3 earnings from its artists' tours, CNBC reported. CNBC also said Western markets made up more than 70% of concert attendance for the first time.
Reuters cited a pre-tour projection that the tour could bring in $1.8 billion. Billboard said in October that with roughly 40 shows left, final gross could approach $1 billion. Both are projections, and the Reuters figure may not be measured on the same basis as Boxscore gross.

What is not confirmed yet
Several numbers in circulation are softer than they look. BigHit Music and HYBE have not published a single current show count in the sources reviewed here. Reported totals started at 79 and have risen since. Billboard's public summary gives the total only as passing $500 million, without an exact figure or show count.
The $500 million figure covers only dates reported to Boxscore by the Oct. 1 update. The $1 billion final figure is Billboard's projection, and HYBE's Q3 figures are analyst estimates until the company reports.
FAQ
How much has the BTS Arirang tour grossed?
Billboard Boxscore reported on Oct. 1, 2026 that the tour had passed $500 million in cumulative gross. The exact figure beyond that was not confirmed, and later dates have not all been reported.
Is Arirang the highest-grossing tour ever?
No. BTS is the first pop group and seventh group overall to pass $500 million on one tour, after six rock bands. Taylor Swift's Eras Tour grossed $2.1 billion, according to Reuters.
How many shows are on the Arirang World Tour?
No single current count has been published. It was 79 dates in 34 cities at the January announcement, 82 concerts per Reuters in March and 85 concerts in 34 cities per Star News in August. More 2027 dates were added after that, so check the official BigHit Music and HYBE pages.
