Short answer

Binance computes the liquidation price of a USDⓈ-M position from your margin, the position size and the maintenance margin rate for your tier. A 10x isolated long of 0.1 BTC from 80,000 USDT, at the first tier's 0.4% rate, is liquidated near 72,289.16 USDT; the same short near 87,649.40 USDT. Enter your own position above.

How does Binance calculate the liquidation price?

Binance publishes one formula for USDⓈ-M futures in one-way mode. It compares the money backing the position with the maintenance margin the position needs at its tier.

In isolated mode only the margin you assigned counts. In cross mode your whole wallet balance counts, minus the maintenance margin of your other positions and plus their unrealised profit or loss.

  • WB: wallet balance (cross) or isolated margin (isolated).
  • TMM1, UPNL1: maintenance margin and unrealised PnL of your other positions (0 in isolated mode).
  • cumB: maintenance amount for your tier.
  • MMR: maintenance margin rate for your tier.
  • EP: entry price; Position: size in coins.

What does the worked example show?

0.1 BTC at 80,000 USDT is a notional of 8,000 USDT. At 10x the isolated margin is 800 USDT. With the first tier's 0.4% rate and no maintenance amount, the long is liquidated near 72,289.16 USDT and the short near 87,649.40 USDT.

We tested the calculator against both of Binance's published cross-margin examples. It returns 1153.26 for the ETHUSDT position and 26,316.89 for the BTCUSDT position, the same figures Binance shows.

Where do I find my maintenance margin rate?

Binance lists the rate and the maintenance amount per notional bracket in its leverage and margin table for each contract. Bigger positions sit in higher tiers with higher rates, which pulls the liquidation price closer.

Why might the real price differ?

  • Liquidation triggers on the mark price, which can differ from the last trade.
  • Funding payments and fees change your margin while the position is open.
  • Adding or removing margin, or opening other positions in cross mode, moves the price.
  • Binance shows the live liquidation price in your position panel; use it to check this estimate.

FAQ

Is the liquidation price the same as my stop-loss?

No. Liquidation is forced closure by the exchange. A stop-loss is an order you set yourself, usually well before liquidation.

Does higher leverage always mean a closer liquidation price?

In isolated mode, yes: higher leverage means less margin behind the same position.

Does this work for COIN-M futures?

No. COIN-M contracts use a different formula. This calculator covers USDⓈ-M one-way mode.

Which price triggers liquidation?

The mark price.
